Portfolio Committee celebrates service milestones
05 September 2025
The City’s Safety and Security Portfolio Committee awarded long service certificates to officers during its monthly meeting earlier this week. The awards recognised and honoured the men and women who have dedicated their careers to serve and protect.
At the meeting, 81 officers from the Law Enforcement, Metro Police and Traffic Service Departments received long service certificates.
Eleven officers reached their 20 year service milestone and 42 others were commended for 25 years of service.
There were 11 certificate recipients who had reached the 30 year mark, and 14 who now have 35 years under the belt.
But three stole the spotlight – cracking the 40 year mark.
‘We are extremely proud of our officers for their dedication and perseverance to protect and serve. The portfolio committee recognised their hard work and would like to thank the officers for their many years of service. Not only do they lead the way for others to follow, but they possess hundreds of years of institutional knowledge that can never be taken away from them – knowledge that is critical in our ongoing efforts to protect our communities and to contribute to a safer environment for all, ’ said Chairperson of the City’s Safety and Security Portfolio Committee,
